Local musicians played a free, all ages local indie show at Yuri’s Record Shop in South Gate on March 31 from 6pm- 9:30pm. Bad Trip, The Lazers, Witchgreens, and the Sunset Couriers were scheduled to perform.

The event put live indie music within easy reach of Bell High students.

Having a free, all ages local show is important to some students at Bell because it allows them to be able to experience the shows.  Many of these students do not have the means of transportation or funds to attend these shows, which are usually far away.

“It’s important to have a local music scene because everyone has a chance to show what they’ve got.” says Bell High Student Albert De La Rosa, Vocalist of local punk band Diversity. A local show can open the doors to Bell students who are interested in indie music but who are not yet aware of local indie bands.

“It’s a creative outlet for young people,” says Guillermo Molina, a local musician. The shows “can be super beneficial to their ability to think outside the box, their self esteem, and social skills,” Guillermo Molina adds.
