From Dragon Ball to One Piece, there’s an anime that fits everyone’s interests. If you’re interested in starting some new ones, or just wanting to stay up to date with your favorite anime, here are a few that are returning this year with a new season.
A popular anime released back in 2015, One Punch Man, makes its return for season 3 in late 2023. This superhero series, based on the Manga created by Tomohiro, who also goes by the single name ONE, follows the story of Saitama, a superhero who, because of his ability to defeat any enemy in a single punch, becomes bored of his job due to a lack of challenge and change.
People who like action with some comedy thrown in will like this one.
Another anime, released back in 2020, Jujutsu Kaisen is set to make its return in July of 2023 for season 2. This adventure fantasy series, created by author Gege Akutami, follows high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization of jujutsu sorcerers to eliminate a powerful curse, until Yuji finds he himself has become the host of this curse. Yuji decides to use his new found curse to help fight off other curses.
Fans of supernatural fantasy adventures will enjoy this.
A favorite anime of mine, released October, 2022, Chainsaw Man is said to return to continue it’s story late 2023-early 2024. This action comedy horror series, created by author Tatsuki Fujimoto, tells the story of Denji, an impoverished young man who makes a contract deal that fuses his body with that of a dog-like devil named Pochita, granting him the ability to transform parts of his body into a chainsaw. Denji eventually joins the Public Safety Devil Hunters, a government agency focused on fighting against devils whenever they become a threat to Japan. People who like dark fantasy and horror will definitely love this.
As a bonus, a popular manga getting an anime adaptation comes out this year. Hell’s Paradise, originally created January of 2018, gets its anime debut April 1st, 2023. This action packed psychological thriller, created by author Yuji Kaku, set in the Edo era of Japan follows Gabimaru, a ninja, and Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, an executioner, as they go on the search for the elixir of immortality. People who like adventures and thrillers will definitely want to keep up to date with it’s upcoming release.
